SeparateWaysTogether I agree, I think in Japan there's a culture where if a voice actor is unwell, out of respect they don't replace them until they pass away (from what I've read online don't quote me on this). Also May was watching Ash's match and both her and Serena were holding each other's hand in worry and support for Ash. WHAT CUTIES. Care to tell me what's happening in Journeys rn?

I haven't been watching, but on the previous page AF posted a short video of Ash's companions watching Ash battling Leon in the World Championship, and they finally showed May for 2 seconds :') Also Ash beat Leon ;P

Aquadrop The image isn't showing up. To make my own contribution, as we all know the Terracotta Medal is basically the symbol of Advanceshipping, representing the deep connection Ash and May forged during their travels together. Even in-universe May draws inspiration from her half and the associated memories of her time with Ash. What makes this worth mentioning now of all times is that even after 26 years of adventures and 18 traveling companions, Ash still has nothing else comparable to the Terracotta Medal in terms of symbolizing a reciprocal bond. Misty and Cilan gave him fishing lures, Serena gave him a kiss, but in the end May is the only one to share something precious with him. They won the Medal together, they split it together, and no matter how far apart they are it keeps them together. Well, I guess that's my weekly quota of Advanceshipping melancholia satisfied.

KMT4ever Oh no, idk why proboards did that, hopefully everyone can see it now (might have to click on it to see it bigger) And totally agreed - I love that it symbolizes how by the end of their journey, they're both equals and learned enough from each other that they were both so in sync to literally tie. It's such a precious token of their friendship and bond, a reminder of the power they posess when they work together. I'm so glad we have the ribbon ;_____; Another thing I thought was cute was that when May pulled out her ribbon in Sinnoh, Ash's half of the ribbon was shining, which told us that he takes care of it well and probably often polishes it (and keeps it near him <3).

It's good now, if kind of small. I don't know how much Ash really learned from May in the sense of her teaching him things the way he taught her.* Even to the end he was very much her mentor and protector, although that's hardly a bad thing! What I do think Ash learned from his time traveling with May was how to be a better person. He immediately took up the responsibility to teach her everything he knew about being a trainer, he went out of his way to help and accommodate her Coordinator quest, he provided an unwavering pillar of support when she felt depressed, the list goes on and on. Being around May brought out the best in him, just as how his support brought out the best in her. *Even though it's way too early in their relationship to be truly Advanceshippy, I love their interactions in AG002 when Ash is showing May around the Pokemon Center. They're just so heartwarmingly comfortable around each other despite first meeting barely a day ago. Totally agreed on the ribbon's return in Sinnoh. Even better, Ash isn't wearing his backpack in that scene, and he's absolutely not the kind of guy to plan ahead, "May's here, better get the ribbon out for her". That means he probably keeps it in his pocket all the time, and there's no reason to think he stopped doing that after Sinnoh. He could have it on him right now!

KMT4ever Yeah, that's exactly what I meant when I was referring to him learning from her too - it wasn't as direct as learning new battle techniques (though, he did take some inspiration in an episode from a contest, totally forgot which episode it was ;___;). Totally agreed with your take! He learned how to be more morally supportive, responsible, and overall more protective. I mean he saved May so many times I can't even keep track, not just physically but emotionally too. They definitely brought out the best in each other~ LIKE JUST LOOK AT THESE CUTIES

Aquadrop Always nice to see moments like those. I have to say that as much as I like seeing Ash be May's knight in shining armor, I do have a special fondness for the scenes in Destiny Deoxys and Mystery of Mew where May basically throws herself at Ash (which is already shippy as heck) in order to calm him down and it works immediately. He listens to her with no bigger protest than a "But...", which I think perfectly illustrates how well they get along. They essentially never argue with each other; even when one gets angry the other always stays calm and tries to reason with them. The exception of course being The Bicker The Better, which even though it might be considered Advanceshipping heresy I don't think is actually a great example of the ship for that reason.
