Well fuck me sideways. That was unexpected.
Nintendo themselves picked who would be showing up as DLC so the fact they picked Joker is mind blowing.

Yoh must be super ecstatic though. I really don’t know the Persona series, so I really wasn’t expecting it. I didn’t think it was real at first. Are any of the Persona games on a Nintendo system? I would assume one’s on the Switch. |

For newcomers, Persona 5 is a very good start, actually. You don't need to know previous games in the series to get into them, as they're their own standalone stories, at least from Persona 3 onward (as those are the ones I played). 5 introduces a lot of good quality of life changes that the previous games desperately needed, and it's just fantastic all around.
My personal favorite, though, is Persona 4. As for if that would be a good place to start...yeah, I think so. You won't get quite a good as a user experience in battle compared to Persona 5, but the combat is largely still the same. Getting new Personas is different, though, and I argue it's less of a grind to fill your Compendium in 5 than 4.
It also kind of depends on what version you get. If you have a Vita on hand, I couldn't recommend Persona 4 Golden enough, possibly even over 5. Although Vanilla is what introduced me, Golden really is the definitive version and has even more content, so definitely go with that. But if you have a PS2 lying around and don't want to get a Vita, then go for Vanilla. If you have a PS3, you can even get it on the Playstation Store for, like, $20 or something. Very good deal for an 80+ hour campaign.
Storywise, they're both good, if not great, but I prefer 4's simply because 5's feels very similar to 4 for some reason. So maybe it's a matter of taste or a matter of whichever one you start with. So if you want to take the plunge and get a PS4 for Persona 5 (and, inevitably, Kingdom Hearts III, absolutely do it. |

Well, I don’t have the money for a PS4 at this time, so I’ll take your word for it.
Anyway, the game should be delivered today. I’ve been tracking the package and it’s in the city already, so I should be able to play it after I get home (and after I make a fruit salad and a pumpkin pie for a party I’m going to tomorrow).
