kyoto-report.wikidot.com/michiko-sakuraiSo Sakurai's wife was part of the development team for Super Smash Bros, various Kirby games, and Kid Icarus Uprising by being the menu visual designer. She was the Art Director of Kirby Air Ride, Stage designer of Brawl, and graphic designer for Kirby 64. That's pretty swish.

So there are rumors going around that maybe Mega Lucario and Charizard X are NOT Final Smashes, as there was no mention of it specifically during Lucario's segment and he was not shown with the "Final Smash Aura" around him. Thoughts?

Thoughts? They did metion that Mega Lucario has his aura strength at maximum though. Seems kinda final smashy to me. Like Wario man in Brawl.

Yeah, but a guy I know did a video analysis, and one thing he's noticed is that the Smash team seems to be trying to make every character unique to themselves. If that is the case, why have two smashes do the same thing?

Fox, Falco, and Wolf are the same; just a slight variation. It would be no surprise that if Mega Evolutions are final smashes as Sakurai has done it before. Hell, Ganondorf is just a Capt. Falcon reskin in terms of moves. Nothing new.

The speculation is that if this "unique" trend continues, the characters would each have an individual move set and fighting style, ergo they would have unique final mashes. Basically they seem to be trying to throw the "I am a clone of so-and-so" idea out the window.

Unique that they can share the same final smash -- Mega Evolution -- but do it differently? As you can see, Mega Lucario seems to just be an overbuffed Lucario and Mega Charizard X would seem similar to Yoshi in his final smash (or just based on my speculation). If that was the case, it would still be a unique thing, but again we don't know the full extent of "unique".
