My first game was Yellow Version. It took me weeks to finally get past Brock.

I voted 8/10 for a few reasons, but mostly because of nostalgia.
Specifically, the Kanto episodes are what influenced my vote the most. Now that I'm older, of course there are some things I can look back on and criticize, but when I was first watching the series I was absolutely enamored with all of the episodes. I used to collect as many VHS tapes as I could of the episodes and I would watch them all the time. I loved the characters, I loved the premise of the story, I loved all of the little subplots, etc. It was one of my first introductions into the world of Pokemon (other than the cards), so having not seen it I might not be here today!
The Orange Islands episodes I also enjoyed, though not as much as the Kanto ones. Same thing with Johto. I watched the Johto episodes on and off, mainly because when they were airing I was the only person in my grade who still liked Pokemon, so it became a little less enjoyable when you didn't have anyone to enjoy it with. That's not to say they're bad episodes, but I just don't have the same connection to them like I had with the original series.
Then the Hoenn episodes came out and EEEP, that will be a long-winded post for another thread :-P

Um, to be honest, I don't really judge Pokemon by saga. I just say that the whole series was good until BW, which really has not been very good. Oh, and um, one thing...we only see important dramatic sequences in that video that was for ADVERTISING the Black and White 2 games. Why would they make them look like terrible trainers in an advertisement to get people to buy their games? I understand what you're saying, but the way I see it, BW is almost the same as the original. He's traveling with two gym leaders, one of them being the 1st, Iris is aiming to be a Dragon Master just as Misty aims to be a Water master. It also has the same quick pacing as the original.

It was good for it's time but nostalgia blinds fans into thinking it was some sort of masterpiece in terms of writing. The only time Pokemon has ever reached competent level of writing was in the Sinnoh saga.

I have to agree with Jack here. I just watched the orignal series not that long ago and while the series wasn't bad, it wasn't overly great either.

I really liked the original series. Their songs are amazing too.
