Oh, I see, someone is jealous that I got advice from a legend. I'll give it 7 out of 5! I wrote like 6 stories between 2012 and 2014 that were widely-varying degrees of mediocre; I haven't touched creative writing since and really don't care too since academic/professional writing takes up what little drive for writing I have left. Lucy's definitely not wrong when it comes to creative writing, broadly speaking. But the truth is that there's also a lot of variance and just straight-up luck involved in the process. Having a decently-written, entertaining story is a necessary condition to succeed (broadly speaking) but it definitely doesn't guarantee success; there are plenty of exceptionally well-written stories that never garner much attention. You can try to "game the system" in little ways: avoid posting at the most popular times of day, to maximize how long your story is on the front page on FFN; if you're gonna write a multi-chapter story, try to write chapters in advanced and release following a regular schedule rather than updating sporadically as you write the story; utilize all your major platforms, since sites like AO3 have a much bigger "market share" than they did back in the day; etc.. Beyond that, pray that the probability gods will smile upon you. I really didn't know you were ever on fanfiction writing..... And when you said least popular parts of the day, when it is? I mean I'm here I India so I don't know of USA and Canada, so at that time? And yeah, I definitely agree with you there on luck, anyways thanks for this, in one day I got two outstanding pieces of Advices, my luck.

And yes this it to @everyparticepent , I've now read all the entries and they all are outstanding, heck I got to know about this forum from Simple Interactions in Maple's house, so what I'm trying to say is Good luck to all 👍👍👍👍👍, as Manqoba earlier said, this is going to be a very close one and I definitely agree on that, all oneshots were amazing, so an applause for all 👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉, now what we can do is wait and hope for the best, so let's see what happens and I'm sure Wubbzy, Dr. Phil E. Sophical, and LuciferIX must have had a very difficult time in judging so an applause for them too 👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉.

Well, it's been a little over 6 years since the last time I touched my FFN account, and that was just to officially announce that I was done after the one-shot collab I did with LittleMissMidnight. I haven't actually been regularly active as a fanfic author (under this penname) since the end of 2012. And even when I was "active" I was probably better known for the fact that I was one of Ryan's (The Shiny Gengar's) beta-readers/editors than for anything I wrote myself. Though I did garner a surprisingly regular following in Seychelles that I can't explain. With that in mind, I have no clue what the posting environment looks like around FFN anymore. Just look at when most updates are coming out and schedule your own releases around it, I guess. Swim against the current and hope for the best.

How much i thank you is not enough, I'll try my best to add these things, I'm copying and pasting these points in my laptop, so they don't get lost, and as you said I'll try to describe every minor things so my readers can feel it, and when you said - 'I'm sure the people who have actually actively studied English and writing can give you far better than the amateurish explanation I gave, at least it is a layman's overview nonetheless.', what is this? Firstly these advises means a lot, and secondly you are no ameture, means you have written some of the most popular works in FF.net history and you say yourself... ameture... But anyways thanks a lot, and I'll try my best to keep Advanceshipping alive from writing the fic's and following these points. And face it - You're a Legend not an ameture. "Layman's terms" is a way of saying "simplified" in one way or another. And since I'm by no means an expert on this topic, its easiest for me too to not try and make it seem like I know more than I do. -- And afterwards I remembered an addition that I commonly said as a suggestion in my reviews, if you're referencing my above post it combines the "details" and "empathy" sections. One of the words I'm most hesitant about using alone is "said". This is by no means an iron-clad rule, but if when going over your fic and you see that you just put in "X said." you can probably improve it to be able to create a better picture for your readers. Take the following examples. "I'm sorry May," Ash said.
"I'm sorry May," Ash whispered.
"I'm sorry May," Ash growled.
"I'm sorry May," Ash said dejectedly.
"I'm sorry May," Ash yelled.
"I'm sorry May," Ash said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry May," Ash pleaded.
Compare the first one with the rest. There is only a word or two difference in each one of them and yet I can almost promise that your image of Ash is clearer with the others. The reason behind this is because one of the places humans emote the most is during speech. We can picture it better since we've felt these emotions, we know how people react to these emotions. It's rare for us to talk is a flat tone without feelings, so play said emotion out. When it comes to these, the idea of "Less is more" works well. Even with just a couple words you can create a rather detailed image. If you really want to emphasize the scene though, you can also easily go even further beyond just a word or two. This of course isn't saying that you can't just use said, but more often than not you can improve the visualization of the scene by modifying it even just slightly.

Okay everyone, results are in. And as luck would have it, out of all the numbers possible for first place, we somehow actually got a tie... Well, consider yourselves lucky. We as the staff are chesp little shits, and as such are too cheap to buy the knives needed for the Knife Edge Death Match. So we'll just have to pull a Terracotta result out of this and out top two will be splitting the prize. And as stated before, scores will not be released publicly. If an entrant wants to know their score, PM one of the judges and we will be happy to tell you it along with the relative position of it within the standing; though other scores will not be shared along with it of course.
So with less blood and without further ado, I, as apparent admin of this event, shall declare the winners.
1st - PichuAuraGuardian19/AirAuraLintensity 3rd - MagamrFire 4th - Manquoba
And everyone give a hand for our top place writers. We had many people entering the contest, and many of them were easy contenders for the top spots. But as for our two top contestants, bug Aly for your prize.
In addition to the grand prize, which is now being split between the two, 3rd and 4th place will also have the ability to choose one of the seven themes for Advaneshipping week coming up later this month.
So once again, thank you to all who participated. I hope that you had as much fun writing as we all had reading them.
