What I love about the manga is that the battles aren't limited to moves and many battles take advantage of the terrain.
For example, Red's final move against Blue is a collaboration between three Pokemon. Poliwrath sprayed the water to the sky, which was electrified by Pikachu to form a thundercloud. Then, Venusaur used Vine Whip as a lightning rod. You can't do that in the games.
Even clothes play a major part. Red was only able to defeat Giovanni because he was wearing a shockproof glove which allowed him to hold his PokeBall while Pikachu was charging inside it.
There's also more variation. In the anime, the plot for each series is Ash going to a new region, catching Pokemon, challenging the Gym Leaders, going to the Conference and losing.
In Pokemon Adventures, there are 3 chapters where the one of the main character challenges the gyms. However, they have different motivations. Red's challenge was classic, similar to Ash. Even his goals are similar, being the greatest trainer there is vs. being a Pokemon master. After getting the badges, he participated in the league which he won. The difference between Ash & Red is that Red travels alone and he won the tournament on his first try. Sapphire challenges the gym after she was inspired by Red. What made this chapter interesting is that the challenge was made for a bet and the gym challenge runs in parallel as Ruby's contest challenge. Platinum's gym challenge was sort of similar to Ash; she had two companions with her. But she competed for experience, she wasn't interested in winning the league.
Favourite Characters: Red, Gold, Sapphire Favourite Shipping: Lucky, Solace/MangaQuest, Frantic, Commoner

I've bought several volumes of the pokemon adventures manga recently and I think it's really good. Great pace and interesting differences.

Mangareader.net only have until 430. Go to mangahere.com, they have it until 458 which is near the end of the HGSS manga. I'm pissed how Lyra is not a dexholder, instead Crystal got a wardrobe change so she looked like Lyra.

I find it odd that they're already starting the XY chapter when Black 2 White 2 is still in progress...

I find it odd that they're already starting the XY chapter when Black 2 White 2 is still in progress... They do that all the time with the manga. They were working on HGSS while finishing DPP and working on BW. I find it interesting though that X has a Kangaskhan that can Mega-Evolve.

Naming characters X & Y is just odd. It sounds like a codename, but it's their real name. Seriously, who would name their kid after a single letter?

Oh, but a bunch of creatures that can spew fire, take children to Hell, make hurricanes, and humans use said creatures for their own bidding is totally realistic, right? Oh but the names are based of a single letter! Oh the humanity! Hey. Hey. I'd totally name my child Shit-Brown if I could.

Blue Ivy: Jay-Z & Beyoncé's kid For people named Red
Green: A fairly common surname Besides, not all colours make sense, just some. Imagine if your passport that your full name is X ...., I'm sure the airport officers will get suspicious.

If they really insisted on the letters X & Y, why not make a name that start with said letters (e.g. Xavier & Yvonne)?
